To plant or not to plant?

Farmers are urged to seek advise from regional extension officers for technical advise on whether to take advantage of the recent rains to start ploughing.

An agronomist with the National Master Plan for Arable Agriculture and Dairy Development (NAMPAAD), Phineas Pheto, says farmers should be careful and listen to rain forecasts.

Pheto says if the current rains continue as projected, NAMPAAD expects farmers might get an average year's yield. He would not promise a good yield to avoid conflicting with other forecasts.
