The Botswana International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) has kicked Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) attraction a notch up with the engagement of 13 professional services firms (PSFs) to promote and market the centre to the regional and global markets.

The 13 firms, which include mostly accounting and law companies with global linkages and networks, will not only market Botswana but facilitate foreign firms in acquiring IFSC certification, setting up and managing business in the country. Established in 2003 with the mandate to establish and develop Botswana as a world-class hub for international financial and business services, Botswana IFSC currently has 47 companies under its wing with an aggregated investment capital of P10.3 billion.

Speaking at a ceremony for the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with 11 of the 13 firms in Gaborone yesterday (Monday), acting IFSC CEO Letsebe Sejoe said the partnership formed with the fiduciary firms would not only shore up private sector participation in the development of the Botswana IFSC but also contribute to the diversification of the whole economy.
