Teacher trades chalk for the corporate world

FRANCISTOWN: For many people, contentment in life means holding an eight-to-five job 'till death do them part.

This is not the case for former teacher, Motlatsi Mbanga, who as a fresh-faced 36year old in 1999, left the profession to venture into the dog-eat-dog world of business.  Of course, the detractors had already written his obituary saying he would not succeed. Today however, aged 49 and blissfully married,  he is living his dream.

Mbanga graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Humanities specialising in English and Social Studies in 1988 from the University of Botswana (UB). Thereafter, he served the teaching profession for 10-years beginning in 1989 before calling it quits and venturing out on his own as an entrepreneur. His teaching resume started when Mbanga taught at Mosetha Community Junior Secondary (CJSS) in Bobonong for a year. He was then transferred to Chamabona CJSS in Mathangwane from 1990 to 1996. The following year, he was again transferred; this time to Sedie CJSS in Maun from 1997 until he resigned in 1999 to join the corporate world.
