FRANCISTOWN: Russian metal giant, Norilsk Nickel has recalled its acting managing director, Bogdan Kuzhel from its Botswana operation at Tati Nickel Mining Company (TNMC) effective yesterday.

A memo issued last week by Moscow-based Roman Parov, Norilsk Nickel director of international assets and chairman of the board of directors of TNMC said another Russian, Sergey Steshenko has taken over temporarily at TNMC for an undisclosed period.

However, information on what necessitated the change was still sketchy at press time. But speculation is rife that the change from a production-led stewardship to a commercial-led one requires that Norilsk Nickel should maximise is profit potential. Kuzhel has been made production manager at Norilsk Nickel head office in Moscow.
