Stanchart boss reveals new plans for Africa banks

Standard Chartered head of consumer banking, Africa region, RAHEEL AHMED is touring countries in the continent where the bank has operations. He was in Botswana this week and spoke to Staff Writer, BRIAN BENZA in Gaborone.

Mmegi: What is the contribution of the Botswana operations to Stanchart retail business

RA: Our retail business has continued to grow and they went up by about 17-18 percent and that has led to Botswana growing by about the same rate. So in overall terms, the growth rate has been the same but it is a much bigger contribution now than what it was in 2006 (when it was 35 percent).
