Of the listed companies, the Botswana Telecommunications Corporation Limited (BTCL) boasts the largest register of individual investors, with a total of more than 51,000 shareholders as at the last count in July.

From police officers, teachers, farmers, the industrial class and labourers in the field, to those in the lofty financial districts of Gaborone and the institutional tier represented by asset managers, the BTCL’s AGM will not only be uniquely large, but by far the most diverse congregation of investors.
