SPEDU makes strides - Somolekae

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Since it was set up in 2008, the Selebi-Phikwe Economic Diversification Unit (SPEDU) has shown some signs of success.

This is according to the Assistant Minister of Finance and Development, Gloria Somolekae when responding to questions from Tswapong North Member of Parliament, Prince Maele in parliament this week.

She said through the assistance of the European Union, the project has conducted studies into the economic sectors of horticulture, tourism and heavy engineering. "These studies helped to identify opportunities for investment in the SPEDU region," Somolekae pointed out, adding that, recommendations on the studies have been made and the agency is implementing them.
