'Sovereign Wealth Funds a safety net after mines run out'

FRANCISTOWN: One of the ideas that received considerable response at the 10th National Business Conference (NBC) was that of the establishment of a Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF) put forward by Tshipidi Moremong, Vice President of South Africa's Renaissance Africa.

The National Business Conference is a creation of the Botswana Confederation of Commerce, Industry and Manpower (BOCCIM), the country's largest body of organised business.

In his presentation, Moremong said Botswana needed an SWF as a means of saving for future generations, diversifying the income base and gaining exposure to both listed and unlisted investments.
