SELEBI-PHIKWE: The Member of Parliament for Selebi-Phikwe West Kavis Kario has expressed concern that local enterprises have not grown much over the years.

Speaking at the launch of the Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) in Selebi-Phikwe recently, Kario said lack of competitiveness, business management skills, a culture and too much dependency on Government are the major problems curtailing the local enterprise growth.
Kario said LEA was established to provide solutions to these problems through the promotion of entrepreneurship and enterprise development among the small medium and micro - enterprises.

"This is a welcome development in our endeavour to create vibrant Small, Micro and Medium Enterprises (SMMEs) in the country. I hope that through interventions such as screening, business planning, promoting local and international linkages, facilitating access to finance and the adoption and diffusion of new technologies by SMMEs, LEA will be able to address some of the problems bedevilling the SMME community," he said.
