Seretse declines to link rise in companies to ESP

The Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Vincent Seretse has said there has been significant rise in the number of registered companies recently but could not link the jump to the government’s newly introduced Economic Stimulus Parkage (ESP).

Seretse told Parliament recently when answering a question from the Member of Parliament (MP) for Gaborone Central, Phenyo Butale who asked the minister to indicate the total number of companies registered since the announcement of the ESP.

Seretse said the Companies and Intellectual Property Authority (CIPA) incorporated 18,778 companies between November 2015 and July 2016. This is in comparison to 14,855 incorporated during the same period last year.
