FRANCISTOWN: Botswana Innovation Hub (BIH) has plans to build a Science and Technology Park on the 57 hectares of land it has been allocated.

On Friday, BIH held a seminar in Francistown to pitch the idea of housing mining technologies, exploration companies and energy companies once the project is completed at the end of 2012.  BIH Acting Coordinator, Dr. Budzanani Tacheba said the infrastructure that includes all the sewer systems, roads, pavements, electricity and water reticulation would pave way for the development of plots that will be made available on a leasehold basis.
"The plot sizes range from 2500 metres squared to 10 000 metres squared. A total of 40 plots with an estimated area of 333, 380 metres squared will be available for lease," he said. He said that the BIH property company is currently looking for private sector investment in the form of private equity to develop the BIH infrastructure.

"The investment shall allow private sector entities to be shareholders in the BIH property company. There are also opportunities to have access to land on lease for companies that are looking towards developing property on the BIH plot," said Tacheba.
