SABMiller Against Liquor Abuse

JOHANNESBURG: Leading brewing company SABMiller supports Botswana government's efforts to curb alcohol abuse though they are unconvinced cutting liquor trading hours is the solution.

Speaking at a dinner held for SABMiller staff and journalists from Uganda, Tanzania, and Botswana last Wednesday, the company's chief executive for Africa and Asia, Mark Bowman, said they want to help stamp out the culture of alcohol abuse  but they believe cutting trading hours will not yield the desired results.

" We want to be seen to be part of the solution and not part of the problem. Alcohol itself is not a bad thing, it's a valuable part of the society and part of one's relaxation.
