SA strike shifts commissioning of AK6 to next year

Commissioning of AK6 diamond mine has been moved to next year due to delays caused by recent industrial action by steel industry workers in South Africa.

The mine, which is currently under construction in Boteti, was initially slated for commissioning in the last quarter of this year. 

In a statement this week, promoters of the mine, Lucara Diamond Corporation, said construction of the mine had returned to schedule after delays in the fabrication and delivery of construction materials to site caused by the strike in South Africa that started on July 1 and ended July 15.
