RoadCem Is Ozone-friendly

RoadCem, which is used for converting natural soil into hard soil in road construction, is an environmentally friendly product.

Speaking at the launch of the product in Gaborone over the weekend, the Managing Director of PowerCem, Andrew Pauw, said the product had been confirmed and reported by Dutch-accredited laboratories after investigating the leaching behaviour of composite materials for a simulated period of 100 years. He said RoadCem helps to reduce carbon dioxide due to significant saving of binders like cement.

"One tome of cement represents 5.1 Giga Joule of energy consumed, representing 1200 kilogrammes of carbon dioxide, hence the use of RoadCem in high road application enables the reduction of carbon dioxide equivalent to 66 kilogrammes per square metre in comparison with regular constructions," Pauw said. "There is also a carbon dioxide reduction due to less supply transport of primary and mass aggregates in general as well as savings in asphalt," he added.
