FRANCISTOWN: Leading hotel company, Cresta Marakanelo, has unveiled the swankier looking Cresta Thapama hotel here that now boasts state of the art facilities and enhanced guest experiences.
The tourism facility is one of the group’s most iconic hospitality landmarks centrally situated in the city and is within walking distance of major business centres, shopping malls and the city’s attractions. Cresta Marakanelo Limited Head of Marketing and Communications, Lorato Tebogo, explained the facelift is part of their ongoing investment programme aimed at enhancing guest experiences. It is also part of the company’s commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences, with a total investment of around P20 million. The transformation includes a major refurbishment of all 96 guest rooms, featuring 82 standard rooms with wheelchair-accessible options, 10 deluxe rooms, three executive suites and a presidential suite. Tebogo further said the reception and front office areas have been revitalised to offer a modern and inviting space that reflects contemporary travel trends. She revealed the rooms have been upgraded with comfort-focused features such as allergy-friendly flooring, sound-reducing features, stylish new furnishings and in-room entertainment systems that allow guests to stream content from their own devices. Tebogo indicated that the improvements are part of a broader strategy to elevate guest experiences across the group. “Cresta Thapama is not just a key asset in our portfolio; it is a beloved part of Francistown’s hospitality story. “As Botswana’s second city, Francistown holds a special place in both business and leisure travel, and this investment ensures we remain a preferred choice for visitors from around the world,” she added. Additionally, the former casino has been reimagined into an upscale coffee shop, the first of its kind in the country’s second city, offering bottomless coffee alongside a private meeting room for business or intimate gatherings. Conference facilities have been relocated for improved accessibility, new carports have been added, and the landscaped gardens have been refreshed to create a beautiful backdrop for outdoor weddings and special events, she said. “We are creating spaces that blend comfort, convenience, and local character,” she said. “From our aesthetic and comfortable rooms, unique dining experiences to flexible event spaces, we are committed to delivering the kind of hospitality that keeps guests returning.” With a rich history dating back to 1984, Cresta Thapama remains a top choice for travellers seeking convenience and character. The hotel joins a growing portfolio of enhanced properties under Cresta Marakanelo, including Cresta Mahalapye, Cresta Botsalo, Cresta Mowana and the newly introduced Cresta Grande Jwaneng.
