FRANCISTOWN: While the 2012-2013 budget has generally been well received by economic analysts and businesspeople, continuation of programmes like the Ipelegeng is viewed as the fly in the ointment.

In his budget speech last week, Finance and Development Planning Minister Kenneth Matambo said government's priorities were continued focus on service delivery and maintenance of existing infrastructure, as well as completing ongoing projects such as energy generation, dams, roads and self-liquidating projects with a high rate of return. 

A lecturer at the University of Botswana's Department of Economics, Obonye Galebotswe, recently told a Botswana Confederation of Commerce Industry and Manpower (BOCCIM) national budget review here that Matambo's itemised estimates of income and spending for 2012-2013 were generally positive and supportive of private sector growth.
