Phikwe business sector says town is neglected

SELEBI-PHIKWE: There is consensus in the business sector here that government is not doing enough to diversify the mining town's economy.

This emerged during a budget review dinner hosted by the Botswana Confederation of Commerce, Industry and Manpower (BOCCIM) here recently.

In his presentation, a partner in Grant Thornton Acumen accounting firm, Vijay Kalyanaraman, said the Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Baledzi Gaolathe had mentioned a specific diversification plan for Selebi-Phikwe, but people in the mining town say it was time speech was matched with implementation.
