SELEBI-PHIKWE: A number of big development projects are lined up in the Selebi-Phikwe area as the diversification process of the mining town gathers momentum.

SPEDU spokesman, Kenneth Boikhutshwane has said that his wish is to see business people shuttling between Selebi-Phikwe and Gaborone in the comfort of chartered aircraft.

"Think around it because it would help SPEDU in its diversification drive," he told a business stakeholders meeting organised by the Botswana Investment Trade Centre (BITC). Boikhutshwane said they have conducted a feasibility study for the construction of a P5 million airport in Selebi-Phikwe. In addition, talks are at an advanced stage to set up a steel plant in the mining town next year. The P30 million investment is anticipated to create over 250 job opportunities.
