Parliament approves vote for sports ministry HQ

Parliament has approved a P15 million Supplementary budget, which includes money to be channelled to the departments in the newly created Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture.

The new ministry requested a supplementary estimate of P143, 121, 830 and had already chewed up P132, 831, 590 from its former parent Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs, leaving at least P10, 290, 240 which will be needed for the establishment of new headquarters for the ministry.

Duncan Mlazie, the Assistant Minister of Finance and Development Planning, told Parliament that in January 2007, when the new ministry was created, the 2007/2008 budget had already been submitted.
