P27m for infrastructure in the North West District

Pre-qualification tenders for the airside work of the expansion of Maun Airport have been invited up to December 19, 2007, the Minister of Works and Transport Lesego Motsumi, has told Parliament.

In answer to a question by the Member of Parliament for Maun West Ronald Ridge, Motsumi said work on the airside is expected to commence in May next year. The project is divided into three sections: construction of airside facilities, relocation of airport services and construction of buildings. Tenders for the relocation of airport services will be invited in December 2007 while the relocation of services is expected to begin by April next year.

Designs of the buildings are currently being finalised, while tenders for building works are to be invited next June with construction projected to begin in September 2008.
