Oppenheimer sells more Anglo shares, direction less clear

But it is no longer clear to what extent it will be so when Anglo celebrates its centenary in seven years' time.

The 120-year-old De Beers diamond mining and marketing company has taken precedence over Anglo American from a family point of view. But even De Beers 'B-Hags' or 'big hairy audacious goals' of 2005 have faded into oblivion and the company's ambitions far less clearly stated.

Maitland Advisory LLP has told the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) that E Oppenheimer & Son International Limited (EOSIL), which is described as being "connected" with Nicholas Frank Oppenheimer, has sold another batch of Anglo shares, this time 2,1-million of them at £30,44 a share between December 10 and December 13.
