Norwegian renewable energy giant, Scatec ASA, says the second 60MW phase of its 120MW Mmadinare solar facility has officially begun commercial operations.

In a statement this afternoon, the firm said the power plant will generate predictable revenues from a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Botswana Power Corporation. "We are very proud to achieve commercial operation date for the second phase of the solar power plant portfolio within budget and ahead of schedule, reinforcing our commitment to advancing renewable energy in the region,” said CEO Scatec Terje Pilskog. “This is an important first step for Botswana, that holds a significant potential for deployment of competitive and reliable renewable energy to support economic development.”
