'Nucleus' of state oil company formed

Four officials of the Department of Energy Affairs have been seconded to a dedicated unit to monitor fuel supply and the expansion of strategic oil facilities at Tshele Hill, Mmegi has established.

The unit is functioning at a nucleus of a state oil company the government has in its sights. The Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources, Ponatshego Kedikilwe, last week revealed that the unit was already up and running and was focussed on the often precarious issue of fuel supply to the economy.

"We have taken four officers from the Energy Affairs department to be a dedicated unit looking at fuel supply and also at the Tshele project," Kedikilwe said. "These four officers have formed the nucleus of what's going to be the national oil company.
