Norilsk to sell Tati Mine, BCL stakes by 2016

Russian mining major MMC Norilsk Nickel (Norilsk) has revealed that it is to sell its Botswana and all other international assets by the end of 2016.

This process, which will start in 2014, is part of the group’s new strategy, which will see it focus on top performing large assets.

In Botswana, Norilsk Nickel Africa  owns 85 percent  of Tati Nickel Mine,the other 15 percent is held by the Botswana government. Further, Norilsk has a 6 percent shareholding in Botswana mining company BCL,  with the remaining 94 percent belonging to the government.
