Non-Bank regulator board named

The Minister of Finance and Development Planning Baledzi Gaolathe on Tuesday unveiled the five-member board of directors for the proposed Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority (NBFIRA), paving the way for the hiring of a CEO.

The members were chosen from across the disciplines of business, financial markets, commercial or business law, economics and accounting, in accordance with Section 14 of the Act establishing NBFIRA.

The Chairman of the board is the current Managing Director of the Botswana Development Corporation (BDC), Kenneth Matambo. Other members are Christopher Greenland, Matlala Dube, Lili Matenge, Linah Mohohlo and Serwalo Tumelo. Matambo is the former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance. He has served on the boards of the African Development Bank (AFDB) and the World Bank.
