New SHHA Scheme To Deliver Over 1000 Houses

New housing scheme for the low-income class is set to deliver at least 1166 ready houses during the 2009/10 financial year, Parliament heard on Thursday.

Lands and Housing Minister, Nonofo Molefhi, has requested P100 million under the Self Help Housing Agency (SHHA) programme. P30 million of this will cater for SHHA Home Improvement Loans for 666 beneficiaries at the new maximum ceiling of P45 000 per beneficiary.

Molefhi says P70 million will be used to implement the Turnkey scheme, a housing model of delivering a ready-for-occupation house at the cost of P60 000 each.
