New Product Quality Regulations Kick In

Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS) has announced a new list of products that will need to have certification of quality before they enter or leave the country.

Speaking at a Standards workshop held last week, Acting Manager, (Compulsory Standards Units), Amen Ntlhaile, the effective implementation date is 1st June 2013 and the grace period is 31st August 2013 and “is only applicable to new products”.

The new products include those on fire safety, food and Agriculture, electrical appliances, chemicals, tyres and safety glass, fused connection units, audio, video and similar electronic apparatus, floor treatment machines and wet scrubbing machines, storage water heaters, sewing machines, clothes dryers and towel rails, ironers, and oral hygiene appliances.
