Despite the scorching sun at some sites, men and women are working hard, laying bricks whilst cranes are hovering in the sky bringing down mortar. At some government backed projects, Mandarin is the language of choice among the foremen even though now and then instructions are belted out in two or three worded English sentences.

Concrete pillars, hanging cranes and heavy machinery have become a familiar sight as construction at the new CBD gathers pace to beat the two-year covenant ceiling that the Botswana government has set for property developers.
