Mupane gold saga reaches industrial court

FRANCISTOWN: The long-standing retrenchment debacle between Mupane Gold Mining and Botswana Mine Workers Union (BMWU) is far from over, this publication has learnt.

After the two parties failed to reach an agreement at a mediation hearing at the district labour office here last Tuesday, they are expected to fight it out at the industrial court soon. Both parties reportedly stood their ground at the hearing.

The mine is adamant it followed the right channels when implementing its much publicised retrenchment exercise that affected 83 workers at the mine's mining and geology department.
