MTC proposes P4.3bn to reduce congestion on A1

The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) will need about P4.3 billion over the next three years to construct alternative roads that will reduce congestion on the A1 road.

Appearing before the Public Accounts Committee, acting Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Ompone Kereteletswe said  some of the roads include the Mookane-Dibete road, Tonota-Mandunyane-Borolong road, Radisele-Pilikwe-Thulamabele road.

According to  Kereteletswe some of these roads are catered for under the Economic Stimulus Package (ESP), which includes the Lobatse-Gaborone road. The construction of the road will start with 26 kilometres from Boatle to Gaborone.
