More work needed for bee to play part in economy - SA minister

More work needs to be done to make broad-based black economic empowerment (BBBEE) a contributor to development and economic growth, Minister of Trade and Industry, Rob Davies, said on Thursday.

Davies said although many elements of the BBBEE framework - including charters, codes of good practice and verification processes - were in place, there was a need to assess the impact of that work.

He was speaking at the third meeting of the Black Economic Empowerment Advisory Council at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.
