Momentum Gathers Towards Bargaining Council

The Department of Public Service Management (DPSM) is scheduled to meet with representatives of the seven public service unions today and tomorrow as efforts towards the formation of a Public Service Bargaining Council gather pace.

This week's negotiations are expected to centre on a constitution for such a council whose finalisation and approval by all unions will mark a major milestone in the organ's establishment.

The proposed council, which is a statutory creature of the Public Service Act, will form a negotiation platform for civil servants and the government on conditions of service.
