Mokaila meets Chinese over Morupule B

Ahead of a meeting with Jin Chunsheng, president of Morupule B’s Chinese contractor, Minerals, Energy and Water Resources minister, Kitso Mokaila, says government is piling pressure on the company for the delivery of the troubled project.

Mokaila’s meeting, in Gaborone, comes as national attention again focuses on the troubled multi-billion Pula Morupule B, which is presently producing 39% of its net 528MW capacity. Two units at Morupule B continue to be under intensive repairs, while critical supplies from chief supplier, Eskom, fluctuates.

“We are meeting this afternoon (Tuesday) to have a tête a tête and that will be a very interesting meeting,” Mokaila told captains of industry at a briefing.
