Bank of Botswana Governor Linah Mohohlo has scooped the prestigious Banking Regulator of the Year award at the first ever African Bankers Awards which were held in Washington D.C. last week.

The awards are designed to recognise rapid modernisation, consolidation, integration and expansion in the African banking sector, which has inspired the introduction of the specialist publication, African Banker.

The awards also coincided with the IMF and World Bank's annual meetings, which Mohohlo and her team attended. The Banking Regulator of the Year becomes the latest of many awards the Botswana's central banker has won in her banking career spanning more 30 years.
