Ministries ask for further funding

The Minister of Finance and Development Planning is expected to return to parliamentarians cap in hand for approval of a supplementary budget soon as ministries ask for additional funding for the current financial year, BusinessWeek has learnt.

Due before the current sitting of Parliament, the 2011/12 supplementary estimates will be on top of the P41.03 billion budget that legislators approved in their February session.

Last December, parliamentarians were asked for P1.3 billion in supplementary funding following previous supplementary budgets of P3.8 billion approved in December 2009 and P7 billion approved in December 2008.
