Ministers to meet President Mogae in Zambia

The Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Baledzi Gaolathe, will join President Festus Mogae at the SADC Summit, which will convene on the 16th and 17th of August, 2007 in Lusaka, Zambia. Gaolathe was scheduled to attend the SADC Task Force on Regional Integration yesterday and the SADC Council of Ministers scheduled to meet from August 14 to 15.

The Botswana delegation will also include the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Lt. Gen. Mompati Merafhe, the Assistant Minister of Labour and Home Affairs Gaotlhaetse Matlhabaphiri, and senior government officials.


Among other issues, the SADC Ministers will consider member states' contributions to the SADC regular budget, the status of regional integration, an application by the Republic of Seychelles to rejoin SADC, the issue of the establishment of an African Union Government and the political situation in the region.The delegation is expected back in Gaborone on Saturday August 18.
