The tourism sector continues to be besieged by illegal operators, a tourism forum has heard. Speaking at the Tourism Pitso in Gaborone last week, the Minister of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism, Tshekedi Khama said illegal operations by unlicenced operators continue to rise. He warned that government has to nip this practice in the bud before it spirals out of control.

“We have a duty to protect our industry.  We urge you to report any illegal activities to the relevant authorities.  There are operators who undertake illegal activities especially in our parks such as driving off road.  If you are one of them, you should desist from such practices. He hailed the World Heritage listing of the Okavango Delta as one of the achievements for the tourism sector.
