Masupe assures of transparency in Stanchart sale

FRANCISTOWN: The sale of Standard Chartered Bank Botswana will be handled with transparency and commitment to supporting customers through the transaction, CEO Mpho Masupe has pledged.

He was speaking this week in Francistown, where the bank first opened its doors in the country. The country’s oldest bank is exploring the sale of its full business, rather than just its Wealth and Retail Business (WRB) unit, which had been on the market since November 2024.

Masupe said the sale was part of a strategic shift by the global banking group and was expected to take the next 12 to 15 months.
