Malesu decries anti-competitive behaviour

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dorcus Makgato-Malesu, says there is a need for the private sector to recognise the importance of a competition policy in the economy.

Speaking at a national competition policy stakeholders conference in Gaborone recently, Makgato-Malesu said instances where suppliers formed cartels to raise and fix prices or create mergers and acquisitions to reduce the choice of suppliers were disturbing.

"The private sector should join hands with government to fight against any anti-competitive behaviour in the market place," she said.
