Local firms eagerly await dtc relocation spinoffs

Local small and medium sized companies say they are excited about the business opportunities that will be presented by the relocation of the Diamond Trading Company (DTC) to Gaborone from London.

The relocation, as stipulated in the marketing and sales agreement signed last year between government and De Beers, will see DTC moving its aggregation and sales and marketing activities to Gaborone by the end of 2013.

Exhibitors at a DTC Vendor's fair held last week expressed enthusiasm on the relocation saying the diamond business to be brought to Gaborone will have spill-over benefits, which they can benefit from. One of the vendors, Mmatshipi Motsepe, a branch manger at transport company, Manica Botswana attested that the Fair was a great opportunity for them as local companies to meet potential clients.
