Liquor Association to take govt to court

Members of the Liquor Trade Association (LTA) have been advised to wait for government to implement the controversial Liquor Act before they take the matter to court. The new act intends to regulate the operating liquor hours for alcohol outlets.

Speaking at a one-day consultative workshop for liquor traders, a Gaborone attorney Marvin Torto advised the members to wait for the law to be gazetted lest the government change tactic and deny that they will implement the regulations as they are.

However Torto asserted that should the government implement the current draft, members of the LTA would have a case to argue before court.
