Although Gabane is located along the busy Gaborone-Kanye highway, business in the village can at times be painfully low and slow. So 42-year-old Getrude Lebese moved her fledgling Lebese Leatherworks to Mogoditshane.

That was in 2005. It was a gamble, she says, but the move has paid off handsomely as she is now doing brisk business.

Lebese is originally from Kumakwane. She designs and sews traditional leather outfits and accessories - bags, purses, sandals, dresses and passport covers.
