Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) recorded about 91 percent successful clients screened in the 2011/2012 financial year as opposed to 74 percent in the previous year.

Presenting the annual report last week, LEA chief executive Tebogo Matome said of the 211 clients screened this year, 191 passed and only 20 failed. "This represented a pass rate of 90,5 percent in comparison to 74 percent in the previous year. This is an indicator that we are now attracting clients with appropriate entrepreneurial traits," said Matome.

He said a total of 8,627 client visits/interactions were undertaken for active clients during 2011/2012 financial year and this translated to an increased turnover of 323 million. "The positive changes and progress achieved by these clients are not only evidence of the effectiveness of our interventions, but also an affirmation that Batswana can achieve the status of competitive and sustainable enterprises through perseverance, commitment and hard work," said Matome.
