Kwena Rocla's production has dropped by over 60 percent in the last six to eight months due to the completion of government construction projects as well as the reduction in expenditure on infrastructure projects by the state.

Speaking during a tour of the company on Monday, Kwena Rocla CEO Glen Ansell said from as much as 500 000 tonnes of pre-cast concrete products last year, production has declined to less than 200 000 tonnes as road construction projects such as Tlokweng and Molapo Crossing, among others, came to completion.

"Our production decreased by 60 percent and it was a huge drop which forced us to retrench 40 employees. We have been experiencing this decrease from the last six months and it is continuing. At this rate we might be forced to explore other downsizing options," noted Ansell.
