India to invest in Botswana diamonds industry

NEW DELHI: India is interested in doing business with Botswana, in particular in investing in Botswana's diamond industry, the Joint Secretary at the Department of Commerce, Bharathi Sihag, told African journalists visiting India.

Sihag said because Botswana is the world's largest producer of diamonds by value and since India has vast experience in diamond cutting and diamond polishing, there is an immediate attraction.

"Our Prime Minister and the President of Botswana have already held bilateral talks on the same issue. We would like to invest in Botswana because we have a lot of experience in the area".
