ICT anchors economic growth - BTA

Development in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector is essential for accelerating the country's economic growth.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Botswana Telecommunications Authority (BTA), Thari Pheko, said this when officially launching Orange Money, a mobile phone-based banking service by network provider Orange Botswana at GICC on Thurday night.

Pheko said in recent times, Botswana's telecommunications industry had undergone major revolution that would take the country further in its endeavour to embrace the IT era. Pheko said recent years had witnessed launches of a number of innovative products and services by major players in Botswana's ICT industry.
