Govt urges banks to improve service delivery

FRANCISTOWN: Local banks have been challenged to lower their transactional costs and improve their responsiveness to public complaints.

Recently appointed Assistant Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Vincent Seretse dared the sector when officially opening BancABC's fifth branch in the country here last Friday.

"There is a lot of public outcry over the high cost of banking services and responsiveness of banks to public complaints. The quality of banking in the country is not commensurate with transaction costs at times. I plead with banks to cut transactional costs to reasonable levels. It is also my belief that as more banks and branches open in the country it will increase competition and thereby reduce the relative costs of banking services," he said.
