Govt spends P56m to curb BX abuse

Government has set aside P56.1 million this year to kick-start a Fleet Tracking, Management and Maintenance System (FTMMS), a high-tech system aimed at curbing abuse of the government fleet.

According to budgetary estimates circulating in the National Assembly, FTMMS was originally excluded from NDP 10 due to funding constraints.

However, government's recent push for efficiency in public spending has necessitated FTMMS' revival, confirming previous reports that wastage in the use of the government fleet was among the drivers of high recurrent expenditure.
