The government has approved a P245.6 billion budget for NDP 10 as the country seeks to shake off the effects of the global financial crisis and press ahead with its development programme.

NDP10, which will run from 2010 to 2016 to coincide with Vision 2016, will be presented to Parliament by the Minister of Finance and Development Planning Baledzi Gaolathe next week in the third meeting of the fifth session of the ninth Parliament.

In an interview with Business Week, Gaolathe's Acting Permanent Secretary Taufila Nyamadzabo said although the NDP 10 budget has been cut by approximately P30 billion due to an anticipated decline in revenues, most development projects will go ahead as planned.
