Stanbic Bank has donated P250, 000.00 towards prizes for the LEA Glen Valley Horticulture Incubators as part of the Stanbic Bank Corporate Social Responsibility initiative. The Horticulture Incubator was adopted by LEA in 2007/08 as part of a mandate to develop and promote entrepreneurship amongst the local business community.
The incubator programme enhances the technology transfer to clients, through the administration of mentoring programmes and the provision of infrastructure to its clients. "It is only through the contributions and assistance of financiers such as Stanbic Bank that initiatives like the incubation programme can succeed. Stanbic Bank's financing of this operation reduces the heavy burden on government and entrepreneurs therefore strengthening our business community as a whole," commented Cosmas Moapare, LEA Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Client Services. The P250, 000.00 prize money provided by Stanbic Bank will go towards the top three clients who are in the incubator programme. The selected three will comprise of those who have achieved outstanding production results during their incubation period each cropping season. The prize money will finance the incubatees' place in the programme for the next cropping season. This includes exposure to production of high value vegetables under greenhouses, shade net houses and tunnels.
